Play: Dark Room

Date: Saturday 28 July
Venue: Chisenhall Dance Space
Ticket: £5

Not in the dark...

This production has been put together following a series of confidence building workshops that the actors took part in earlier in the year.

The workshop leader became writer and director of the piece - devised through a number of character development sessions. It is refreshing to see a play that is organic, where the actors and the characters are the text and where several story lines from very different starting points can come together in a harmony.

The piece was very well acted, and cetainly achieved its purpose of bringing lesbian visibility to the front of an arts/media space. It was described the the Director as a work in progress but it felt much more  like a final product, with the storylines reflective of lesbian lives, done with a real sense of honesty and genuinity.

The play is going to be re-written and directed following feedback from this one off performance. Worth seeing when it comes back on stage - if you like theatre that is focused on telling stories that are real.
