Event: Is Monogamy Dead? Rosie Wilby comedy performance + Live Panel Debate; Friday 28 FebruaryVenue: Canada Water Culture Space
Tickets: £10
Rating:
Disgruntled serial monogamist Rosie Wilby presents a loose sequel to her Fringe Report Award winning show The Science Of Sex.
In her authoritative white lab coat, Rosie conducts a humorous lesson which includes live research, evidence in the form of comically drawn diagrams and a round of Family Fortunes.
Rosie sparkled as the jokes flew through the narrative, with some gentle audience teasing and political commentary on the way.
Slick, contemporary and very very funny - an excellent piece of comedy theatre.
The performance was followed by a panel discussion featuring members from the London LGBT arts sector, exploring open relationships, polyamory and forms of non-monogamy and their viability. Chaired by Rosie, we heard from Alex Hopkins, Beige Magazine; Carrie Lyle, Diva Magazine and Ali Brumfitt - who together represented a wide spectrum of monogamous to fully polyamorous relationship models.
Some very perceptive questions from the audience took us on a journey through the link between sex and relationships, sex and friendships and the fact we are obsessed with sex. The panel discussed labels, how relationships and boundaries need to be negotiated and agreed from both sides and that honest is perhaps more healthy than adultery. The conclusion amongst most was that monogamy may not be dead, but it's evolved and not the only relationship model to aspire to.
You can listen to highlights from the show and the Panel discussion on Rosie's Resonance FM Radio Show Out in South London.
